"Reiki" (pronounced Ray-Key) is a Japanese word meaning Universal Life Energy, and it is this energy which emanates from the hands of a Reiki practitioner. Reiki is not a religion; it is a natural method of healing that compliments any belief system centered in love. Reiki helps balance and heal the cause of illness while eliminating the effect.

Reiki cannot be taught as an ordinary language; the reiki energy is transmitted like light waves through the meditative touch of a Reiki Master to a student. The traditional Usui Reiki healing techinique and method is taught through information and demonstration in three separate levels: I, II & Master.

One does not have to go into an altered state of consciousness or engage in mental concentration for reiki to be effective, nor does the person have to believe that reiki will heal. Once initiated into the first degree of reiki, any students can help the healing process by gently placing his/her hands on the person, plant or animal. A unique aspect of reiki is that it allows the practitioner to heal him or herself. Many other methods of healing are effective to others, but not to the self. Reiki gives people the ability to handle stress, it helps to curve or eliminate pain and supports the immune system. Reiki does not require any mental exercises. Simply, hands on the person and Reiki flows, some have referred to it as a feeling of "grace".

Reiki is an incredible healing tool, which heals on the spiritual, physical, mental and emotional levels. Reiki I consists of learning the basic concepts, self-healing positions, initiation, references and includes a manual and book. Reiki II is a deeper level of healing and understanding with another initiation and manual. The Master level consists of learning to teach reiki to others, a final initiation and the teacher's manual. A certificate is given at the end of each class level.
